Lawrence Berk, M.D., Ph.D.

A multi-year winner of Tampa Bay’s Top Doctors, Dr. Berk most recently was the Chief of Radiation Oncology at the University of South Florida and Medical Director of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Tampa General Hospital and a Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of SouthFlorida. Dr. Berk received his Ph.D. from Yale University and completed his residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania, where he later served as amember of the teaching faculty as well. Dr. Berk has practiced in the Tampa Bay Area for over 15 years and formerly held a faculty position at the Moffitt Cancer Center.

Dr Berk has a strong background in research. He served for several years as the vice-chair of the RTOG (Radiation Therapy Oncology Group), the national research program for radiation oncology. He also served for over a decade as the Chair of the Symptom Management Committee for the RTOG and served as the Chair of the Alternative Medicine Committee of the RTOG. He has been the leader of three national trials for the RTOG and one national trail for a pharmaceutical company.

Dr. Berk brings decades of clinical experience, research and leadership to the Tampa Oncology and Proton team.
